The latest WhatsApp beta version for iOS now has an improved repair feature while the developers have rolled out a couple of useful features for the web version of WhatsApp.
Earlier, the developer team announced that they are going to remove support for older Android versions of WhatsApp. However, a lot of people still rely on primitive smartphones that still run Android 2.3, Android 3.0 among other outdated versions of the operating system. The team has decided to continue support for some of the platforms and it has now been extended to WhatsApp Web edition.
With the newest WhatsApp for Android web update version 2.17.49, it has been confirmed that Android 2.3 operating system and all other OSes above the same will be supported on desktops. People running the OS on their phone will now be able to send or receive messages using the web version of WhatsApp. Its an important update as it allows them to communicate seamlessly and not rely on their smartphone all day long.
Apart from support for older operating systems, it also adds some new emojis to make the web version more interactive and fun to work with. For the WhatsApp beta version for iOS 184.108.40.206, the developer team has added a major improvement that allows the app to repair the database. Some minor improvements have also been made to the status messages allowing iOS users to share what they like to.
According to a post by WABetaInfo, the older iOS version 220.127.116.11 will allow users to change the color of the bubbles. However, it is unclear whether they would allow users to select a color of their choice or rather encourage them to use the ones found in a pre-defined color palette.
Most apps are designed from the ground up to not run on Jailbroken iOS devices. WhatsApp beta continues to work on Jailbroken devices without any issues so far but it is the older version 2.17.3 and the new update might prevent it from working.
A long list of changes are introduced in WhatsApp for iOS beta and many of these features are hidden in the app. Highlighted changes include new UI for storage section, improved WhatsApp camera functionality, saving photos is separate album, improved animation and better way to keep track of time spent on voice/ video calls. The change log has been posted here.
