Earlier this year, reports started emerging claiming that Google has plans to help push the Android One brand into the U.S. Well, before this is confirmed, General Mobile has just unveiled the 2017 model of this phone – and it’s an impressive entry-level phone.

Dubbed General Mobile GM6, the new Android One 2017 phone continues to be part of the Google family where Android OS is stock. Even though it could still keep the usual low-end price tag, you may for sure love some of the features that this phone packs – features are usually spared for the high-end family.

As expected, Android 7.0 Nougat will be running the show out of the box and like other Android One phones, this one will also be receiving software updates at the same time as the rest of Google devices, straight from the search engine giant. The screen size hasn’t changed a bit, still offering 5 inches, but under the hood, the 2017 Android One has a MediaTek MT6737T SoC that has been paired with a RAM of 3GB.

For photography matters, the new Android One has a rear-facing camera of 13MP with dual-LED flash while the front shooter has an 8MP lens that accompanied by a selfie flash. This will ensure that the photos you capture remain at the best quality possible regardless of the lighting conditions around you. All the photos and videos that you record using the new General Mobile GM6 can be stored on the phone’s 32GB of inbuilt storage or use an external microSD card for the same.

To keep the 2017 Android One phone alive will be a huge 3000mAh battery and for a 5-inch display phone, this battery should last two days on a single charge with moderate usage – or even more! The price and release date details have not been confirmed just yet, but the availability of the phone will remain in Turkey, at least for now. Since the brand has already penetrated into a few other markets in Asia and Africa, don’t be surprised if you come across this handset in your local smartphone shop.

One major interesting bit of the new Android One is the fact that it comes with a fingerprint sensor, but unlike other Google phones where this feature is located on the back, General Mobile put it on the front, just below the screen. And since it’s a Google-powered phone, you’ll also find a built-in Google Assistant, just like the Pixel phones.
