Google Pixel and Pixel XL might be enjoying an amazing debut year, but still, the company has some work to do before taking a seat among the elites such as Apple and Samsung.
Ever since their inception, the Google Pixel and Pixel XL haven’t been short of issues. While it hasn’t been easy or rather possible to deal with the hardware issues as some would have expected, the tech giant has been excellent when it comes to handling the software-based problems. However, it appears that fixing one problem gives rise to another, with the latest case being issues related to the phones’ backups.
Apparently, the two phones are unable to back up properly, where some people have reported of scenarios where they completely fail to back up call history, app data, SMS and so on. Frustrated users have taken to Google Product forums and others are up in arms on Reddit, citing that they see a “Waiting to back up” message that never materializes.
Google has yet to respond to the issue with a fix despite there being growing complaints about the same, however, it could be the lack of clear details about the issue that is keeping them from coming in at this point. So far, some Google Pixel and Pixel XL users are reporting that the issue is affecting a single item, but others claim that the issue is affecting just about every category that requires backups, including Settings app.
Since not all users of Google Pixel and Pixel XL are experiencing this back up issue, it’s recommended that you check your phone’s sync status via Settings>Backup & Reset>Backup. At this point, the unaffected phones will show you the date for when the category was last synced. If otherwise, it’s likely that your Pixel phone is affected.
To avoid disasters with your data, you may want to avoid resetting your device during this period, at least until Google releases a fix. Alternatively, you may grab a third-party app and use it to back up data in the affected categories so that you don’t lose anything.
