Grand Theft Auto 6 Might Turn Out To Be The Most Expensive Game By Rockstar

Grand Theft Auto Franchise

Apart from confirming that it is working on the next game in the Grand Theft Auto franchise, Rockstar Games hasn’t shared any major updates about the game.

While many unconfirmed rumors and news items have floated around, one is not sure what to and what not to believe.

One thing, however, one has been certain about is that the game is being mounted on a huge scale and shall feature high-end graphics along with a gripping narrative structure. From whatever one has heard so far, Grand Theft Auto 6 might just be the most expensive gaming property launched by Rockstar Games.

Since Rockstar Games doesn’t discuss money or the finances pertaining to its games, this is one aspect of their games that is not discussed among fans either. However, if you go by the reports, you will realize that the budgets of the games published by Rockstar Games have gone higher with time. While inflation is one important factor behind this, the rapid development in technology has contributed greatly to the rising costs.

Another lesser discussed aspect of the games is the way they are priced. The launch price of GTA 3, GTA Vice City, GTA San Andreas and GTA VC Stories was exactly the same. All these games were priced at $50. Most of the games that have released after the year 2008, including GTA 4, GTA 5, Red Dead Redemption 2 and Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition, were sold at $60 at the time of being launched.

One of the major reasons behind the $10 increase could be the financial depression that the world witnessed in 2008. The world economy has got affected severely because of the Covid-19 crisis. This could result in Rockstar Games bringing further changes in the price point of their games in the near future.

Because of the huge investment being made in GTA 6, there is a good possibility of the game being offered to gamers at a high price. In March 2021, Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick spoke about the reasons behind NBA 2K21 being sold at $70.

While Rockstar made all the important decisions while developing many of its games released in the recent past, its parent company Take-Two Interactive will play an important role in the way GTA 6 is developed.
