Unlike the HTC 10 or even the One M9, HTC U11 has taken the world by storm thanks to one major feature – the Edge Sense.
This Edge Sense feature allows users to execute a number of functions by simply pressing the edges of the phone, but according to the latest reports, this feature will not be exclusive to the flagship HTC U11. Apparently, the Taiwanese tech giant has plans to unveil a new budget phone codenamed HTC Ocean Life.
We know that the company will not be releasing a flurry of devices this year, with only six to seven devices expected to be unveiled. So far, we’ve already seen three in the new HTC U line up, with the others being the HTC U Ultra and HTC U Play, which were unveiled before the U11 came to life.
The U Play is a midranger and as it appears, it will be joined by another midranger sooner or later. In the latest report, the upcoming HTC Ocean Life will be equipped with a 5.2-inch Full HD display screen, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 SoC and 16MP lenses on both the front and back cameras.
New midrange: Ocean Life
CPU: Snapdragon 660
Display: 5.2' 1080p
Camera: 16mp/16mp (front/rear)
Bluetooth:5.0
Battery: 2600mah
Android 7.1.1— LlabTooFeR (@LlabTooFeR) July 4, 2017
Also, the new HTC Ocean Life will debut with a slightly smaller battery unit of 2600mAh and similar to the U Play and other phones in the U series, we expect to see a USB-C port and a missing 3.5mm audio jack. The Ocean Life will be powered by Android 7.1.1 Nougat out of the box, an indicator that it won’t be long before this phone comes out.
Other features of the midrange HTC Ocean Life include Bluetooth 5.0, HTC Usonic and Sense 9.0 on top of the stock Android OS. So far, we have no idea when this phone will be released, but as noted, the fact that it will be powered by Android Nougat means that it may be here before Android 8.0 is released.
