Huawei is coming big this year to CES 2017 with the Mate 9 and Mate 9 Pro.
The smartphone brand has very limited presence in the U.S. market but they are determined to change it this year.
In a competitive market in the United States, Apple has the largest share with its iPhone followed by flagship phones from Samsung, LG and Motorola. For a lesser known smartphone manufacturer like Huawei, it is an uphill task to convince buyers that they offer flagship specifications, great hardware quality and the latest version of Android. The company can achieve it if they partner with a top player like Google. However, the real victory lies in creating a market share for their individual products.
At the Consumer Electronics Show 2017 edition, Huawei’s Yu Chengdong will deliver his keynote. The caption says fuel innovation with passion. While the brand has already successfully launched the Matebook Notebook and the Mediapad tablets, they are yet to make a strong dent in the smartphone segment. The upcoming Mate 9 and Mate 9 Pro is expected to change the game.
The official launch will take place this month only after which we will have a good idea of the specifications of the smartphone. Following the footsteps of Apple and Google, Huawei Mate 9 will sport a smaller display at 4.7-inch or 5.0-inch while the Mate 9 Pro as the name suggests will have a bigger screen above 5.5-inches. It won’t be surprising if they try to push the limits by launching a 6-inch model. However, U.S. audience aren’t such a great fan of impossibly large phablets and the 5.5-inch model is the sweet spot for both the iPhone 7S and the Pixel XL.
The report comes from a Chinese website MyDrivers and they have also posted promotional posters of the upcoming announcement at CES 2017. It is clear that Huawei is excited to make a strong comeback into the United States region with two new phones. Once the Huawei Mate 9 and Mate 9 Pro is official, we will have a clear idea. An actual review of the units is necessary to determine how good they are. Pricing it in the mid-range segment lower than its flagship competitors is mandatory for the brand to grab its own market share. Xiaomi has done it in many regions and OnePlus 3 is the fastest selling smartphone with flagship specifications yet boasts of an affordable price tag.
