Huawei Honor 7X Users Start Receiving Android Oreo 8.0 Beta OTA Update along with March Security Patch

The Honor 7X is an affordable smartphone from a reputed manufacturer but the company’s decision to go with an older version of Android disappointed buyers. However with the latest Android Oreo based EMUI 8.0 beta update, users can now feel relieved.

Honor 7X has the right price tag combined with impressive hardware and with the latest Android 8.0 update, it has just become the best smartphone your money could buy today.

With a strong focus on the entry-level and mid-range market, Honor has been on a roll in the past few years. The newly launched 7X was a big disappointment on launch day and buyers were worried whether it will ever get the update to Android 8.0 operating system. In the recent past, Honor made an announcement requesting all interested users to join the beta program to test the OS first.

Those who chose to participate in the beta program have started getting the Beta OTA update now, along with March 1 security patch as well, as confirmed by Honor USA in Twitter.

How to Download Android 8.0 Update on Huawei Honor 7X?

  • Open the settings page on your Android smartphone and head to System menu.
  • Tap on System Update and let the phone do a quick scan to find OTA updates.
  • Tap on Check for Updates Option.
  • If it returns no results, tap on the three-vertical dot icon to Download Latest Full Package
  • Download the update over a Wifi connection which is more stable than 4G. Install the update
  • If you couldn’t find any updates, wait for a couple of hours or a day until the rollout is complete for all beta tests on Honor 7X

In their Honor Friendly User Test (FUT), the developers have confirmed that users should be able to see the update before the end of the day. All users who signed up for the beta would have received an e-mail with instructions on how to download and install Android 8.0 with EMUI 8 on their respective phones.

The team will receive feedback from users regarding bugs, restarting issues and other compatibility stuff before they rollout the program to all Honor 7X users. The phone is priced at $199 in the United States and its price tag combined with powerful hardware specifications made it an instant hit.

The EMUI 8 is Huawei’s custom skin and users will also receive lots of Android 8.0 features like PiP mode, adaptive icons,and circular emojis bringing it on par with Google’s Pixel 2 smartphones.
