Huawei Mate 8 Android 7.0 Nougat Leaks

Huawei doesn’t boast the best records when it comes to software updates, but things are different this year with the Huawei Mate 9 already running the new Android 7.0 Nougat software out of the box.

The company released the Huawei Mate 9 with Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box, making it the third non-Google OEM to do so just after LG V20 and HTC Bolt. This is an achievement for the Chinese OEM and apparently, this act won’t be ending just with the Mate 9.

According to a leaked report, the Huawei Mate 8 has been seen with the latest Android 7.0 Nougat on board. As the name suggests, the Mate 8 is the predecessor to the Mate 9 and as it is, the phone could see an Nougat update even before this year comes to an end.

Of course, the easiest way to get the latest Android 7.0 Nougat installed on your Huawei Mate 8 is to wait for the OTA update to be released by the company. However, if patience is not part of you, there is a quicker way of getting the update through the ever-reliable XDA Developers forum. The person behind the discovery says that the Huawei Mate 8 Android 7.0 Nougat was somewhere on the company’s servers and it can be downloaded and installed on any Mate 8 out there.

As mentioned earlier, the official Android 7.0 Nougat update for the Huawei Mate 8 will come via an OTA notification. This leaked version is not official and as such, you can expect some issues when using it. In short, proceed at your own risk, but at least make sure you back up your phone before you start the whole process.

Just recently, it emerged that Huawei was running tests of Android 7.0 Nougat on the P9, the Mate 8 as well as the Honor 8. Now that this video has surfaced, it appears that the company should have everything ready even before Christmas.
