Instapaper, the popular read-it-later app, now has its premium functionality available to the users for free.
The company mentioned in its blog posts that opening the Instapaper Premium has been something which they always wanted to do and they are thrilled to give all the customers the best of Instapaper experiences.
The Instapaper app was recently acquired by Pinterest, another popular social networking site. Since its acquisition, Instapaper has resulted in becoming a very interesting reading service as it has been dropping the subscription-paid functions progressively. The latest development of offering all the premium paid-for services for free to all its users is sure to turn a lot more heads. The Instapaper app is still one of the best reading apps which are very helpful for saving the online articles, which can be read later in an offline mode.
Free Subscription of Great Features
Instapaper had reported in its blog post that it is better resourced now and so it will be offering the best version of its app for free to its users. Previously, Instapaper was charging a premium subscription fee for its services that came at a price of $2.99 per month, with an annual subscription fee of $29.99. The subscription fee included a full-text search for all the articles, unlimited speed reading, ad-free Instapaper website reading, text-to-speech playlists, unlimited note-taking, easy sending of reading materials to the Amazon Kindle devices via bookmarklet and other mobile apps, and Kindle Digests of almost 50 articles. All these amazing features that were offered by the app, was limited only to the Instapaper Premium subscribers. However, with the new change, all these great features will be now available for free to its all its users.
The company announced that the existing Instapaper subscribers who have already paid for the premium services will be offered pro-rated refunds and they will not be charged any longer for their subscription. The company also mentioned in its blog posts that all the users can now continue to have an ad-free Instapaper app experience as they are completely eliminating advertisements on the web.
It is quite interesting to see how Instapaper will be faring against the other similar rival read-it-later app, Pocket, since both the apps offer similar services. However, given the better resources of the Instapaper app that has been unlocked for the regular users with its full functionality practically means that it has blown away all the competition on its way to becoming the best.
