OnePlus 3T is still one of the most highly regarded smartphones in the market right now. Launched towards the end of 2016, the phone is set to be replaced by a new OnePlus 5, a phone that could be unveiled in June or July, just like the original OnePlus 3.
If rumors coming from China are to be believed, the upcoming OnePlus 5 will keep the company’s tradition of shipping with high-end specs and a premium design while keeping the price as low as possible. In short, the upcoming OnePlus 3T successor will still be another flagship killer, just like it has always been the case with other OnePlus phones.
In 2016, OnePlus 3 and 3T were among the most popular phones to be sold globally with an impressive RAM of 6GB. In fact, it is this feature that has contributed to the lead the phone has had over Android rivals as far as performance benchmarks are concerned. Since OnePlus 5 is expected to be an obvious upgrade over the OnePlus 3T, it is thought that the 2017 flagship killer will come in with a massive 8GB RAM.
Being a year of thin bezels – or bezel-less designs for that matter – OnePlus 5 is rumored to be working on reducing the size of bezels even more when compared to the 3T. OnePlus may also make the switch to QHD resolution after a while using Full HD panels, but don’t be surprised if the latter is still the case in order to keep the prices down. Under the hood, the flagship will come in with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC and at least 64GB of storage, although some rumors claim that the base model might feature a massive 128GB storage.
If this report is to be believed, OnePlus 5 may also join the dual-lens camera craze while at the same time move the fingerprint scanner to the back panel in order to accommodate the thinner bezels on the front panel. Given the battery upgrades that the 3T came with over the original OnePlus 3, it is possible that the new OnePlus 5 might do the same, with some rumors suggesting an impressive 4000mAh unit.
