After unveiling a series of budget phones at the MWC 2017, HMD Global still has plans to unveil more smartphones in the midrange and high-end family.
We’ve heard reports of Nokia 7 and Nokia 8 as midrange phones. We are also hearing reports about the Nokia 9, which will be the flagship phone in the family of new Nokia phones. If the latest reports are to be believed, the high-end Nokia 9 will be unveiled in Q3 2017.
In addition to giving out the details on the possible release of the Nokia 9, the latest report also sheds some light on the pricing of the phone. If things materialize as they are right now, the phone will not come on the cheap, just like other flagships in the current smartphone market. Apparently, the phone will be valued at about €749, which is huge for a phone that is coming from a company with an unproven track record in the smartphone flagship market. Apparently, those in India will be lucky to get their hands on the phone at a cheaper price tag of Rs 44,999, which is about €660.
Despite giving us a rough idea of the release date, there is no specific release date so far. However, it is possible that this could happen somewhere in July or August, just in time to take on the likes of OnePlus 5, Sony Xperia XZ Premium and even the Samsung Galaxy Note 8, among other flagships.
In terms of specs, rumor has it that the Nokia 9 will ship with a 5.5-inch QHD AMOLED display screen, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC, 6GB RAM and Android Nougat out of the box. You also get a 22MP dual-lens camera on the back thanks to Carl Zeiss optics, a 12MP shooter for the selfies, an iris scanner and a 3800mAh battery unit. All these will be housed in a waterproof body with IP68 certification.
For now, we cannot confirm the authenticity of these reports and as such, take them with a grain of salt.
