In his Q3 2017 earnings call, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg pointed out that “over the next three years, the biggest trend in our products will be the growth of video” and it’s already happening.
As we speak, it’s already possible to make group videos calls through Facebook Messenger, but it seems the company has other ideas in place. A few months ago, the social networking giant unveiled a new application that lets users enjoy group video chats. The app, which is known as Facebook Bonfire, is now making its way to Android via the Google Play Store.
One little problem with the Facebook Bonfire app, however, is that it’s currently not available in all markets that can access the Play Store. Rather, it’s still geo-restricted, but the good side of the story is that an APK version is already available for download – and this can be used from any part of the globe.
It still doesn’t make any sense to me why Facebook would launch a standalone group video chat app, but since it’s in the early stages, it’s quite early to rule it out. The app lets you video chat with a maximum of 8 friends at a time, but what makes the app even more interesting is the fact that anyone, including those who were just invited to the group video chat, can add other people to the group video chat. In case you are not happy with being part of the video chat, Facebook Bonfire has a lock option that will restrict your availability, but only for your friends taking part in the chat.
As you would expect from any video chat app, the Facebook Bonfire app also comes with a bunch of video effects that can be used in the middle of the chat. It’s also possible to save photos of video chats as well as share them on other social media channels such as the mother Facebook and Instagram, among others.
So, if you are still wondering how to make group video chats on Facebook, well, there you have it! All you need is to download and install the Facebook Bonfire app from this link and you’ll be good to go.
