The Mercedes Benz pickup truck is getting an official reveal in a week’s time and when it does, we will finally be able to see the truck in action.
For many months, all that was revealed was concept arts and sketches of the truck. While they did give a decent idea of how the new design would be, it was still not enough for us to come to a conclusion. The concept preview design will finally put an end to all the speculation and let buyers know if they should have the Mercedes Benz pickup truck as their next big change from an older model.
The upcoming model is being built in a tie up between Nissan and Daimler. The truck will be built on the same platform that is already being used by Navara from Nissan. It is available only in overseas markets so far but the new pickup truck concept is aimed at the North American buyers.
Spy shots of a heavily camouflaged truck leaked online and it was very close to the size of a Navara. The front grille is however different but the rest of the car is heavily camouflaged giving us very little idea of its design. The cabin crew configuration found in the prototype edition has been adopted in the truck concept model. It is also speculated that the truck will receive a Nissan engine, a 2.1-liter turbodiesel I-4 engine. Another powertrain option could be the 3.0-liter turbodiesel V6 edition.
A strong demand exists for midsized pickup trucks around the globe. Mercedes Benz in their investors meet announced that they have planned to expand their lineup by offering cars in the segment. It came as a bit of surprise for the general audience as Mercedes has always been associated with luxury sedans. Pickup trucks are more of rugged models that belong to Nissan, Ford besides other automobile manufacturers.
The manufacturer has confirmed that the pickup truck will make its official debut on October 25th at an event held in Stockholm, Sweden. Once the official reveal takes place, Mercedes has planned to expand its horizon into other segments in the automobile world. They are interested in tweaking their marketing strategy around the world by launching newer models that cater to people with specific requirements. Once the official launch takes place, we will be able to bring more information with regards to the pickup truck from Mercedes.
