Earlier this month, images of the supposed Motorola Moto M showed up on different online platforms, prompting suggestions that the phone could just be around the corner.
Well, there is still no specific release date of the Moto M, but we have an idea of what specs this device will come with thanks to new leaks that have just come in. Apparently, the Moto M should be made available in December, but there is still no mention of the exact date when this will be happening.
According to sources, the Moto M will be a midrange offering from the Lenovo-owned company, coming in to join the Moto G4 and Moto G4 Plus that were unveiled earlier in the year. However, where the Moto G4 uses the slightly weaker Snapdragon 617 SoC, you get a much better Snapdragon 625 SoC on the Moto M.
The Qualcomm octa-core processor has a clock speed of 1.4GHz and is built using the same 14nm process used with the Snapdragon 820, which is this year’s flagship processor. Like the Moto G4 Plus, you get more than one option with respect to RAM and storage. The base model of the Moto M should come with 3GB RAM and 32GB of onboard storage. Potential buyers will also have the option of getting a 4GB RAM and 32GB storage variant. Both models have room for microSD card storage, which can accommodate up to 128GB. These two models will be available to the international market.
There is another Moto M model that will remain exclusive to China. Apparently, this variant will be packed with 4GB RAM and onboard storage of 64GB, which can also be expanded via a microSD card of the same capacity as its international variant counterpart.
With battery life becoming a major factor when buying a smartphone, the Moto M will reportedly come with a huge 5100mAh battery unit, which should enable the phone to enjoy up to 78 hours of talk time. The battery is also supported by Rapid Charger, which eases the pain of charging it to full capacity, or even half.
Like the specific release date, the details of the screen size and resolution of this Moto M are not yet known. But we should know in the coming weeks, especially since the company could be lining up a December 2016 release.
