New Meizu M5s Leak Confirms Two Variants and their Prices ahead of next week’s launch

Meizu M5S

The Meizu M5s is no longer new in the rumor mills. In fact, the Chinese company is expected to unveil this phone in its local market on February 15.

Previous leaks have shown the Meizu M5s going through various institutions including China’s TENAA. Back then, it was revealed that the phone will come in two variants with model numbers M612Q and M612M. Some specs and a few images of this device have also been leaked in the past and just days before the entry-level phone is made official, more details are coming in, including the technical specs as well as the price of the handset.

Now, according to the latest leak, the Meizu M5s will come in two variants and not three variants as previous rumors have been suggesting. The low-end model will ship with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage while the high-end model will carry 3GB RAM and 32GB of storage. As for their prices, the former will be valued at CNY 999 while the latter will set you back CNY 1,199. These prices are equivalent to about $145 and $175, respectively.

Apparently, the price and internal component configurations will not be the only differences between these two models. The leak also confirms that the low-end Meizu M5s will ship with a smaller 5-inch screen while the high-end model will have a 5.2-inch screen. In addition, the former will reportedly come with a traditional 10W charger while the latter will come with an 18W charger that supports fast battery charging technology. If the latter is true, it will be a huge step for Meizu as it is rare (impossible) to find a phone priced at $175 and supports fast charging technology.

Previous rumors had indicated that the Meizu M5s will use a hefty 2930mAh battery (or possibly more), which is probably why the company is equipping the handset with fast charging technology.

Keep in mind that these are just rumors and as such, anything could change when Meizu unveils the M5s next week.
