Nokia 8.2 with Quad Rear Camera Setup and 5G Support Rumored

There have been rumors regarding the next release in the Nokia 8 series of smartphones, namely Nokia 8.2.

The next device will reportedly be called the Nokia 8.2 which will be the successor of the popular budget smartphone Nokia 8.1. There are rumors that the new device will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 735.

Previously there were rumors that the Nokia 8.2 will be released in two variants – a 4G variant as well as a 5G variant. However, sources in the industry are now claiming that the Nokia 8.2 will have only one variant, a 5G one.

Reports of Only One Nokia 8.2 Variant to be Released

NokiaPowerUser, a blog dedicated to Nokia news, dismissed the rumors that claimed that the phone will be released in two variants, a 4G variant and a 5G variant. They claim that the Nokia 8.2 will only be released as a 5G smartphone. They further added that the device will go on sale in early 2020.

According to the report, Nokia was considering having two variants but later dismissed that idea to keep things simple. The same thing happened in the case of Nokia 6.1 and Nokia 6.1 plus where they later decided to have only one variant that came out to be the Nokia 6.2. They also mentioned a possibility that the Nokia 8.2 moniker will be dropped completely in favor of a new name but it’s just speculation at this point. The device will reportedly be announced in MWC 2020 which is going to be held in Barcelona.

The report also hints at some expected specifications of the Nokia 8.2. The device will reportedly have a 64 MP primary camera as well as a 32 MP front camera that will be enclosed in a pop-up mechanism.  The processor will be a Snapdragon 735 as mentioned earlier. The price of the device is expected to come around $500.

Quad Rear Camera Setup Leaked

Nokia Anew, a source for Nokia leaks recently leaked a bunch of info about the upcoming Nokia 8.2 on twitter. The tweets reveal that the phone will come with a quad rear camera setup where the primary camera will be a 64 MP shooter. Details about the other camera modules and the shape of the camera arrangement were not revealed.

The tweets are still hinting the existence of two variants of the Nokia 8.2 which are the normal and the 5G variants. According to the tweets, if there is a normal 4G variant of the device and it is not canceled, then we may hear an announcement as early as December 2019.

The tweets mentioned that there won’t be an OLED display or waterproofing features in the device and it will be priced around €500.
