Nokia P1 packing Snapdragon 835 chip is expected at the upcoming MWC 2017.
Earlier, it was rumored that the new phone would be called Nokia 8. Later on, some renders at the CES 2017 showing a Qualcomm phone were identified as the Nokia 8. However, Qualcomm refuted the claims and now it is claimed that the new Nokia smartphone will be called the Nokia P1 and will pack in some heavy features. Rumors claim that the new handset will be officially unveiled at the MWC 2017.
Qualcomm Snapdragon 835
A new rumor from a social networking site based in Russia claims that the upcoming Nokia P1 will be powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon, 835 chip. It will also come with other powerful features, namely a 5.3 inches IGZO display and a 1 to 120 Hz refresh rate. The smartphone will also get protection with the Corning Gorilla Glass 5.
Announcement at MWC
The rumor also states that the new Nokia P1 handset has been based on the Sharp Aquos Xx3 with some of its features on it. Foxconn has manufactured the Nokia phones in case of HMD Global and Foxconn owns Sharp, so the rumors seem justified. Nokia 6 has received a very warm welcome in China, and HMD Global, the Finnish company, reportedly, has plans for launching another Nokia brand phone, Nokia P1, at the MWC next month.
In fact, it is expected that HMD Global might announce two phones at the MWC 2017, being held in late February this year. One of the smartphones announced would probably be the flagship phone from Nokia, which was recently claimed to be the Nokia 8.
Other Rumored Specs
In addition to this news, it is also claimed that the Nokia P1 will come with a RAM of 6 GB. There will be two variants with internal storage capacities of 128 GB and 256 GB. The rear camera will have a resolution of 22.6 MP, similar to the one on the Sharp Aquos Xx3. However, the new Nokia P1 is equipped with the ZEISS optics, which has Carl’s certification. The battery features Quick charge and has a capacity of 3500 mAh. It also has an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor and runs on Google’s Android Nougat, 7.0 version out of the box.
There will be two versions of the Nokia P1, based on the body material of the smartphone. The 256 GB variant will have ceramic body, whereas the 128 GB variant will have the metal frame. However, both the variants of the Nokia P1 will come with standard protection of IP55/iP57. The Nokia P1 will also offer IP68 certification, with resistance against dust and water.
The 256 GB variant of the Nokia P1 will be priced around $950, whereas the 128 GB variant will be priced lower at around $800. The price tag does seem to be a little high and it could be inaccurate. It is hoped that the prices are not accurate; otherwise the Nokia P1 may not have too many fans.
