The Vivo V5 Plus has just been unveiled in India today, but the phone was made available for pre-order towards the end of last week.
In fact, the Vivo V5 Plus was announced in Malaysia towards the end of last week, about three days ahead of India’s launch, but it is finally here. If you have been waiting for this selfie monster, it is time to grab one for yourself, but it will set you back a whole Rs 27,980 to get your hands on it.
Like its predecessor Vivo V5, the new V5 Plus focuses a lot on the selfie camera, delivering a one-of-a-kind combination of 20MP and 8MP dual-lens setup. In addition, you also get a LED flash on the front camera so that taking photos in the dark won’t be a problem at all. The design language is close to what you see on the iPhone 6 or OnePlus 3 phones – a metal unibody with a fingerprint scanner hid under the home button.
As for other specs, the Vivo V5 Plus comes with a 5.5-inch Full HD display screen with a 2.5D Gorilla Glass 5 on top. Under the hood, the phone packs the Snapdragon 625 processor and is paired with an Adreno 506 GPU and 4GB RAM. To store your files and apps, the company packed a 64GB storage on board, which can also be expanded through a microSD card.
Despite focusing a lot on the selfie camera, it doesn’t mean that the engineers behind the Vivo V5 Plus took no notice of the main camera. The back panel has a capable 16MP shooter that comes with PDAF and LED flash, 4K support, among other features. Like the Vivo V5, Android Marshmallow runs the show, but there is a newer version 3.0 of the FuntouchOS skin used on top of the stock Android OS. To keep the phone alive, you get a 3160mAh battery unit that also supports fast charging technology.
The Vivo V5 Plus goes on sale starting February 1 at Rs 27,980, an equivalent of about $410, but it can be pre-ordered from major stores across the country starting tomorrow.
