OnePlus 3 Finally Becomes Official and Available at $416

OnePlus 3

The OnePlus 3 has been one of the most awaited phones of 2016 and it has finally been unveiled.

The official specifications of the device are as promising as the rumors. Available at a price of just over $400, the phone manages to offer incredible value for money just like its predecessors. Even better is the fact that it will be availablewithout any invites in major regions across the world. The invite system was criticized as being a dampener on the sales figures.

As a phone, the OnePlus 3 is clearly one of the finest in the market. It has a 5.5 inch display with 1080p resolution as before, but the phone has now moved away from the IPS panels and into the optic AMOLED technology. The results of the switch will be visible once a few demo units of the device become available. The screen is protected by the latest generation gorilla glass. It is in terms of the memory where the OnePlus 3 brings some huge changes.

While the predecessor only came with 4 GB of RAM even on the top end model, the priciest option on the OnePlus 3 line-up now comes with 6 GB of RAM. Internal memory, though, remains as a standard 64 GB as before, but the company has completely done away with the 16 GB option. Apart from being available with only one internal memory option, OnePlus 3 also does not support external memory cards. It comes with dual SIM slots which will be a major hit in developing regions.

In the rear, the phone uses a 16-megapixel sensor from Sony which is complete with phase detection autofocus, 4K video recording, autofocus HDR mode, optical image stabilization, and LED flash. The sample pictures of the front facing camera were leaked by none other than the company’s CEO, but without revealing the actual specifications. It has now been revealed that the front camera uses an eight-megapixel sensor, which again is an improvement over the predecessor. It lacks the 4K video recording capability but users should be fine with the 1080p recording option. More importantly, it comes with an electronic image stabilization for slightly better selfie videos.

OnePlus 3 also comes with a new type fast charging (dash charger) and the company claims that the phone’s battery will be up to 60% within 30 minutes. The international availability of the OnePlus 3 is yet to be unveiled.
