OnePlus 3T to Start Shipping on Nov. 22 at $439 – No Invites Required

OnePlus 3T Launch

OnePlus 3T was among the worst kept secrets as far as smartphones are concerned, but finally, the phone is here with us.

A successor to the highly regarded OnePlus 3, the new OnePlus 3T brings quite a number of hardware changes, but there is really nothing to brag about as far as software updates are concerned. One would have expected to see Android 7.0 Nougat running on the device out of the box, but instead, OnePlus went for Android Marshmallow, which also powers the original OnePlus 3. However, both units should receive the Android Nougat treat before the year ends.

So, what’s really new on the latest OnePlus 3T?

For starters, you will notice a new color for the OnePlus 3T – soft gold and a brand new gunmetal gray model. In terms of size and weight, the 3T keeps everything its predecessor has. The real changes took place under the hood where you get a Snapdragon 821 SoC that is clocked at 2.35GHz, but the RAM remains at 6GB.

It gets even better as the latest OnePlus 3T carries a larger battery unit of 3400mAh as compared to the 3000mAh unit found on the OnePlus 3. The battery supports the company’s Dash Charge, which is just another proprietary version of fast charging technology.

OnePlus 3T wants all selfie lovers on board thanks to the whopping 16MP snapper placed on the front of the phone. This lens matches the one placed on the rear of the phone, which makes it one of the best, if not the best, in term of photography. But this must be taken to real world tests before anything further can be concluded. The rear snapper has both OIS and EIS while the likes of PDAF and LED flash are not a miss.

OnePlus 3T pricing

As opposed to previous rumors that had pointed towards an LCD panel for the OnePlus 3T, the phone retains the 5.5-inch Optic AMOLED screen used on its predecessor alongside things like USB-C, NFC, fingerprint scanner as well as dual nano-SIM connectivity.

As far as pricing is concerned, OnePlus 3T has two variants. The base model of 64GB is valued at $439 whereas the high-end model of 128GB goes for $479. Shipping of the phone begins on November 22nd for those in the U.S. while Europe will start seeing the same phone as from November 28th. In Europe, the phone will be selling at €439/£399 for the base model and €479/£439 for the high-end variant.

Like the OnePlus 3, there is no need for invitations in order to buy the OnePlus 3T. This was the case for the older OnePlus 2 and OnePlus One.
