New J Series Phone

The J3Pro is a new phone announced by Samsung and is found listed on the website of Korean based Samsung company. This is a new phone belonging to the J series and it seems to have an imminent launch. The company unveiled the new addition on June 6th in China. It is supposed to be a beefed up version of the basic J3 that was released in November 2015.

Hardware/Software Specs

The J3 Pro will come with a 1.2 GHz processor and is powered by a 64 bit, quad core, Snapdragon 410.  The RAM is 2 GB and it comes with an internal memory of 16 GB, which can be expanded to a maximum of 128 GB, with the use of a microSD card. It also boasts of a graphics card, Adreno, 360, GPU. The phone is run on the older Android Lollipop version 5.1.1, out-of-the-box and this could be a disappointment to some users who would have expected it to come with the latest Marshmallow version. However, they needn’t worry, as the company will soon upgrade the device to the Marshmallow version. The usual TouchWiz user interface is on top of the Android operating system. It has a battery of 2600 mAh.

Camera – Rear and Front

As for the camera, the device has a rear camera of 8 MP resolution and a front shooter of 5 MP. The primary camera comes with an LED flash feature and an aperture of f/2.0. It can also record a full HD video at the rate of 30 frames per second.

Design and Dimensions

The J3 Pro is similar to other J series phones and comes with a metallic finish. The usual home button is seen just as in other Samsung phones. The dimensions of the device are 142.2 x 71.3 x 8 mm and it weighs 139 grams. It is available in two color options – gold and gray. The new J series phone will have a display screen of 5 inches HD and the display is Super AMOLED with a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels. The J3 Pro supports a dual SIM.

Connectivity Features

 The J3 Pro will offer support for 4G as well as GPRS/EDGE. It will also support Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, with other connectivity options, such as Bluetooth and GPS/A GPS, NFC and also a micro USB and Glonass. It will also offer compatibility with the Indian LTE bandwidths, according to the listing.

Expected Price

The phone will be released in June this year. With respect to the price, it comes at a price of around $250/990 yuan. The website confirms that the device will be sold by the local carrier, China Telecom, but it is not yet revealed as to when it will be available. It is expected that the phone will first be available in China and will slowly make its way to the shores of the US. Going by the specifications, it seems to be an entry-level phone.
