It has been officially announced that the Olympic edition of Samsung S7 Edge will be unveiled on July 7th, just a week from now.
Though it was known that this new variant of the S7 Edge was to be released soon, the exact date was not confirmed.
The Olympic edition is the same as the S7 Edge, but has a new design, which was created in order to celebrate the 2016 Rio Olympics.
Teaser Video
The company has offered a teaser video recently, which confirms the news. Samsung Germany had posted a video lasting for 17 seconds through its Facebook page. The video hinted at the Olympic variant of the S7 Edge being released on July 7th. A square box that had been used as a prop during the unveiling of the S7 has been used in this latest video.
The box dances with a Brazilian music playing and the video ends showing the tag line, Ge& Ready along with the date 7th July and a site link to Samsung Olympia. This confirms that the new variant Olympia will be making its debut in a week’s time. On a closer view of the teaser video, the number 7 can be seen in blue shades, probably to show that the variant will come in a sapphire shade.
Other Leaks
In addition, a prominent spy on Twitter has also leaked the new Olympic variant in a black hue, with a blue and a gold accent. However, it is not known whether it will be released in all markets. This means that there is no surety about whether the phone will make its way to the US markets. There is also no news regarding the price of the Olympic variant of the S6 Edge.
Olympic Theme
Though the specifications of this new variant, the Olympic S7 Edge, will be similar to the S7 Edge, there will be some new goodies. These extra goodies will have an Olympic theme no doubt. You can expect some Olympic based features, such as wallpapers and ringtones or photos and videos and so on. The handset is expected to come loaded with some themed applications based on the Olympics. However, all this is mere speculation for now.
Limited Edition Variant
It is a limited edition version of the S7 Edge. Once the Olympic is launched, it will be the second such variant for the S7 Edge. Earlier in May, the company had launched Injustice Gods Among Us, which was inspired by the Batman mobile phone game.
New Goodies
The design and the hardware present on the new Olympic variant will remain the same as the original S7 Edge. However, the important difference in the variant is the coloring. In addition, it will also come with a physical sensor for fingerprints. It has speakers having golden accents, placed on the front. As for the rear of the new device, there will be a camera module in blue color along with an Olympics sigil in blue on the base.
