Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Olympic Edition

A few weeks ago, reports emerged that Samsung was preparing to launch a Galaxy S7 Edge Olympic Edition in time for the upcoming Rio 2016 Olympics.

Now, as it seems, this is indeed going to happen thanks to a teaser that has made its way to the public via a Samsung Facebook page for Germans. Previous reports have showcased images of what is purported to be the Olympic Edition of the S7 Edge, however, up to now, nothing concrete had come out directly from Samsung. But with the latest revelations, which tells potential buyers of the Galaxy S7 Edge Olympic Edition to “Ge7 Ready” for an event to be held on July 7.

To cast away any doubts about the possible release of the Galaxy S7 Edge Olympic Edition, the teaser directs readers to an official Deutschland Samsung website. While we are confident that Samsung will release the S7 Edge Olympic Edition in limited quantities, there is no mention of the exact markets that will get the chance to receive this device. However, it is possible that the host nation of the Rio Olympics might get a rare chance to be one of the markets selling the Olympic variant of the phone.

Another thing that Samsung has also remained coy about is the price of the S7 Edge Olympic Edition. However, with Samsung slapping a massive price tag on the Galaxy S7 Edge Injustice Edition, this might also be the case as far as this customized version is concerned.

As for the spec sheet, expect nothing to change when the Galaxy S7 Edge Olympic Edition is released later this week. The phone will still come with a 5.5-inch QHD Super AMOLED curved dual-edge screen with a resolution of 2560 by 1440 pixels and support for Always On display. Under the hood, expect an Exynos 8890 SoC that is paired with a RAM of 4GB. The storage option to be availed will possibly be 32GB, which can also be expanded via a microSD card of up to 200GB. You also get the same 12MP Dual Pixel lens on the rear with f/1.7 aperture as well as 5MP selfie camera with the same aperture used on the standard Galaxy S7 Edge.

Although the Galaxy S7 Edge Olympic Edition has a July 7 release date, the opening ceremony of the event will be held a month later on August 5.
