Samsung Galaxy A5 2015 Android 7.0 Nougat update Expected this Month

Not so many devices that were released in 2015 have been getting any favors from their manufacturers with respect to the latest Android 7.0 Nougat OTA update.

In fact, if the original Samsung Galaxy A5 receives the new Nougat OS later this month as expected, it will be joining the likes of Google Nexus 6 and Nexus 9 as the only devices to be updated to the OS. Released in December 2014, the Galaxy A5 came in with Android 4.4.4 KitKat. When Android Marshmallow came in, the device was served with the dessert and currently runs on version 6.0.1

Samsung had revealed that this device will be updated to the new Android 7.0 Nougat update, however, the specific dates have remained elusive, at least until now. Still, we only have an estimate of the time and not the exact date, with GSM Arena reporting that those using the original Samsung Galaxy A5 should be able to receive the Nougat treat before the of this month. As at the time of this writing, the publication notes that the device is testing Android 7.0, meaning the rollout is just around the corner.

This latest report about the Galaxy A5 2015 Android Nougat update comes from Australian carrier Optus, who had last month promised to make the OS available by the end of January. But as usual with testing software, it appears that something did not go right somewhere and had to be fixed first, hence the delay.

It is interesting that the original Galaxy A5 is set to be updated to Android 7.0 Nougat yet a few other handsets, including the Galaxy Note 4 that also came in 2014, are not on the list. Nonetheless, we’ll let Samsung take care of this one, but we hope that a flurry of its midrangers and entry-level models from Galaxy A, C and J series will also be getting this treat.

This 2015 midranger comes with a 5-inch Super AMOLED display screen that has a resolution of 720p. The processor under the hood is a Snapdragon 410 and the RAM is at 2GB. For storage purposes, Samsung Galaxy A5 2015 has 16GB and a microSD card slot. The rear shooter has a 13MP lens with AF and LED flash while the front has a 5MP snapper. To keep you going is a 2300mAh battery unit that is not removable.
