South Korean OEM, Samsung, has been working on the Samsung Galaxy A6 and A6 Plus as part of its lineup for 2018. Both devices have now been listed on certification website, FCC, where more information has been revealed.
The Galaxy A6+ model numbers that have been certified in FCC are the single and dual SIM variants namely SM-A605FN/DS, SM-A605FN, SM-A605G/DS, SM-A605G and SM-A605X.
The Galaxy A6 model numbers to be certified are SM-A600FN/DS (Dual SIM), SM-A600FN (Single SIM) and SM-A600X.
Recall that in the past weeks, the Samsung duo has been spotted on Wi-Fi Alliance, Geekbench and recently passed the Bluetooth Certification test thereby giving more concrete information on what to expect from the A-series smartphones.
Samsung Galaxy A6
The Samsung Galaxy A6 in its FCC listing has been revealed to be coming into the market boasting a 5.6-inch display, which is rumored to be Super AMOLED Infinity display. The dimensions can be seen as 146.34mm vs 67.25mm (length vs width) whereas overall diagonal measures 157mm and display diagonal is 142mm which is equivalent to 5.6 inches.
We already know that it would have octa-core Exynos 7870 processor under the hood. Importantly, the Exynos 7870 processor was also equipped on the Galaxy A3 (2017) model.
On the memory configuration front, the Galaxy A6 is expected to hit retail shelves packing 3GB of RAM coupled with 32GB of onboard storage memory. The Android 8.0 Oreo OS has been tipped to be the out of the box OS to be expected on the upcoming device with a possible upgrade to Android P.
Samsung Galaxy A6+
The bigger variant of the Samsung duo will be equipped with a 6.06-inch Super AMOLED Infinity display and an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor powering its processes. From the FCC listing, the dimensions can be seen as 160.22mm x 75.7mm (length x width). Screen diagonal measures 169mm and display diagonal is 154mm, which corresponds to 6.06 inches.
Additional information about the Galaxy A6+ as listed on Geekbench revealed that the device will feature 4GB of RAM. It is expected to be paired with onboard memory variants of 32GB and 64GB.
Running on the latest Android 8.0 Oreo OS, the Galaxy A6+ has been hinted to be eligible for the upcoming Android P OS upgrade in the coming months.
Both smartphones will support Bluetooth version 4.2 and NFC option.
Release date and regions
Both smartphones, the Galaxy A6 and A6+ can be expected sometime in May 2018. The official announcement of both smartphones is however expected to follow the unveiling of the Galaxy A8 (2018) and the Galaxy A8+ (2018).
Availability and Pricing Information
The Galaxy A6 and A6+ have already been confirmed to be coming to regions including Europe, Russia and the Middle East. With this FCC listing, we can now believe it to be coming to the US as well.
Pricing information is not confirmed yet although the mention of Infinity Display may influence the price which has earlier been speculated to be anything between $300 and $400.
