Samsung Galaxy A6, Oppo R15, Vivo NEX S, Xiaomi Mi 6, LG V30/30+ Appear with Android 9 Pie Onboard

We’ve found as many as 8 phones running Android 9 OS in Geekbench and most of these phones can be expected to get Android Pie in Q1 2019.

The updates for Android Pie this year have been coming thick and fast and the latest list has comprises of Samsung Galaxy A6 (2018), Oppo R15, Vivo NEX S, Xiaomi Mi 6, LG V30, LG V30+, Redmi 6 Pro and Redmi Note 6 Pro. All these phones have been sighted on Geekbench site with the Android 9 OS.

Samsung Galaxy A6 (2018)

Samsung Galaxy A6, with model number SM-A600FN, is an entry level smartphone from Samsung released in May 2018 with a 5.6 inch display and an octa core Exynos 7870 Soc processor. The phone has 3GB/4GB RAM variants and 32 GB/64 GB storage variants. The device is priced at around $225 and the device shipped with Android Oreo out of the box. The update to Android Pie is a welcome addition to the phone’s overall appeal.

Oppo R15

Oppo R15, with model number PACM00, is a phone powered by MediaTek Helio P60 processor and comes with 4GB/6GB RAM variants and 128 GB internal storage. This phone shipped with Android Oreo 8.1 out of the box in April 2018 when it was released and is due for Android Pie upgrade in Q1 2019.

According to a recent report on Oppo’s ColorOS official social media account, the company has mentioned that the beta version of the UI ColorOS 6 built on the Android Pie OS is now available for the users of the Oppo R15 Dream Mirror edition (R15 Pro).

Vivo NEX S

Vivo had indicated that the upgrade to the next Android version may happen only by the fourth quarter this year but it has brought forward the program and gone ahead and released the beta version of the Android Pie upgrade on a few of its smartphones, including the Vivo NEX S along with Vivo Nex A, X21 and X21 UD.

Apart from the software update, the phone receives several performance related updates. These include a voice assistant Jovi that can help with a few errands in response to voice commands and some memory cleaning apps etc. have also been added.

Vivo Nex S is another smartphone with high-end specs; 6.59 inch display, Snapdragon 845 SoC processor; a massive 8 GB of RAM and storage in two variants of 128 GB and 256 GB. And a 4000 mAh battery to power the device; all these make it a device right up there.

LG V30/V30+

The LG V30, a flagship from the Korean major, was  released in 2017. This is a 6-inch display phone and was out with the Android Nougat and subsequently upgraded to the Android Oreo. Now it is receiving one more OS upgrade to the Android Pie. The phone’s users may be delighted to use the latest OS. LG V30+, with model number LG-H930DS, is also slated to get the Pie update.

Android Pie has received rave reviews and should make their devices more secure. LG V30 has 4 GB RAM and 64 GB onboard storage while the LG V30+ has 128 GB internal storage. Priced close to $500, this might still be a good phone to possess and use.

Xiaomi Mi 6 / Redmi 6 Pro / Redmi Note 6 Pro

Xiaomi Mi 6 is another device released back in April 2017 with Android Nougat 7.1.1 out of the box and it has already received Android Oreo upgrade. Now, it’s on its way to receive the next major upgrade to Android Pie anytime in Q1 2019.

In addition to the above devices, we’ve also found Xiaomi Redmi 6 Pro (Codenamed: Sakura) and Redmi Note 6 Pro as well, running Pie on Geekbench.
