A new Redmi phone with 48-megapixel camera is coming soon. Xiaomi has confirmed about it through the official Xiaomi Company Weibo account.
The Chinese manufacturer will be announcing the smartphone on Jan. 10.
The launch poster of the mysterious Redmi phone confirms that the company will be holding an unveil event for it on Jan. 10 at 2 PM. The shadow of ‘4800’ number below the big-sized ‘Redmi’ text is a clear indication that the company will be launching a Redmi phone with 48-megapixel camera on the said date. The poster also reveals that Redmi will become an independent brand with the launch of the new Redmi phone. Unfortunately, it has no other information on the specifications of the mysterious Redmi smartphone.

Xiaomi President Lin Bin had shared an image of unidentified smartphone with 48-megapixel camera in the previous month. The image had only revealed a small area of the rear side of the phone which carried ‘48MP Camera’ text alongside the camera module. Soon after the image was shared by Bin on Weibo, reports started claiming that it will be Redmi series flagship phone.
Xiaomi is known for selling budget-friendly smartphones through its Redmi lineup. However, it appears that the company is now gearing up to launch a budget-friendly flagship phone in China. Some rumors have claimed that it could be the Redmi 7 Pro while other reports have claimed that it could be the Redmi Pro 2, the successor of Redmi Pro phone from 2016.

Rumors have it that the Redmi Pro 2 will be fueled by the 11 nm Snapdragon 675 mobile platform. In the previous month, an unidentified Xiaomi phone with model numbers M1901F7C, M1901F7E and M1901F7T was approved by China Compulsory Certificate (CCC) body in China. It is speculated that it could be the mystery 48-megapixel Redmi smartphone.
