Samsung Galaxy C7 2017 (SM-C710X) clears Wi-Fi Alliance ahead of release

Samsung Galaxy C7 2017

In May, reports emerged claiming that Samsung Galaxy C7 2017 will be among the first Samsung phones to sport a dual-lens camera setup.

While Samsung has not confirmed any of these details, a recently leaked TENAA image of the Galaxy C7 2017 showed up, adding more weight to this dual-lens camera rumor. While the phone is expected to be out anytime from now, we don’t have an exact date as to when this will be happening.

Nonetheless, a series of happenings can confirm that indeed Samsung Galaxy C7 2017 is getting ready for a release very soon. A month ago, the phone appeared on Bluetooth SIG with model number SM-C7100, a suggestion that its release was not far away. Just last week, the same phone made a stop at the Wi-Fi Alliance with the model number SM-C7108, which was also another indicator that it won’t be long before Samsung takes the wraps off the handset.

Now, in a similar occurrence, the same Samsung Galaxy C7 2017 has made another stop at the Wi-Fi Alliance, this time with model number SM-C710X and like the previous WFA listing, the phone has Android 7.1 Nougat running the show.

The details of the specs and other features of the Galaxy C7 2017 are still unclear. As much as we know that the phone will come with a dual-lens camera on the back, the exact details of the lenses are still unknown. The story is the same when it comes to the specs under the hood, but the general expectation is that the phone will have some hardware upgrades over the 2016 model.

Samsung Galaxy C7 2017

Last year’s Galaxy C7 had a 5.7-inch Super AMOLED display screen with a Full HD resolution, a Snapdragon 625 chipset paired with 4GB RAM and two storage options of 32GB and 64GB, both with room to expand via a microSD card of up to 256GB. Given that the Snapdragon 625 SoC has received a successor in the shape of Snapdragon 630, it’s possible that this could be the chipset to be used on the C7 2017.

We don’t expect drastic changes on the RAM and storage options. The 3300mAh battery unit with support for fast charging technology could also be retained, but don’t be surprised if the front camera jumps from 8MP to 16MP, just like what is currently appearing on the Galaxy A 2017 family.

It won’t be long before we get finer details on this upcoming Samsung Galaxy C7 2017, but for now, take some of these details with a grain of salt as they are based on rumors and unconfirmed reports.
