Samsung Galaxy C9 Pro to Start Shipping on November 11

Samsung Galaxy C9 Pro

Samsung is still struggling with getting to terms with what happened with the Galaxy Note 7, but this hasn’t stopped the tech giant from releasing more devices into the market.

The latest member to join the party is Samsung Galaxy C9 Pro. Unfortunately, this phone is only available in China, at least for now. It also happens to be the first Samsung phone to ship with 6GB RAM, which is 2GB more than what the Galaxy Note 7, Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S6 Edge+ have.

The design

Like any other Samsung Galaxy C phone, the Galaxy C9 Pro is made of metal. It comes in two color variants of gold and rose gold. Being a phablet, there is a huge 6-inch Super AMOLED 2.5D curved glass screen with a Full HD resolution of 1080p. This is larger than any of Samsung’s flagship offerings, which are topped by the 5.7-inch Note series.

Hardware and software

Since it is another mid-range smartphone from Samsung, the Galaxy C9 Pro comes in with a similar midrange processor – a Snapdragon 653. This is a Qualcomm-made octa-core processor that manages a clock speed of 1.44GHz. As noted earlier, the C9 Pro has 6GB RAM alongside 64GB of onboard storage, the same amount offered on the deceased Galaxy Note 7. This storage can be expanded via a microSD card of up to 256GB. The phone has support for 4G LTE, NFC, Bluetooth 4.2 and USB-C. Being a Chinese variant, there is also dual-SIM connectivity as well as a fingerprint scanner.

Given its massive size, the Galaxy C9 Pro also ships with a huge 4000mAh battery unit that is supported by fast charging technology. The phone has Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow out of the box, which is not stock.

Camera and release date

If you love photos, the Galaxy C9 Pro is a phone you need to check out. With its huge screen, you will love gazing at snaps captured by the impressive 16MP front and rear cameras. Both lenses have the same aperture of f/1.9, but it is only the rear snapper that ships with a dual-tone LED flash. This feature is missing on the selfie camera.

If you live in China, you can pre-order a new Samsung Galaxy C9 Pro right away, but the phone will not start shipping until November 11.
