The next in the series, the Samsung Galaxy J7 2017 edition has been spotted in the Wifi Alliance page.
The phone’s specification got leaked in the GFXBench page in the past but we can confirm its specs only when its officially announced.
The Mobile World Congress 2017 is just a week to go and it’s going to be a massive event this year. Samsung has sent out invitations already teasing people with a tablet like device. Multiple sources claim Samsung will launch the Galaxy Tab S3, the Pro version of the tablet and possibly different smartphones including the J, A Series devices. The Galaxy J7 2017 is expected to get launched soon as it has been spotted in the Wifi certification now and in GFXBench results.
With the model number SMJ727A, the J7 2017 edition will have a spacious 5.5-inch display with a resolution of 1280×720 pixels. For a model getting launched this year, 720p sounds like a step back. However, it should give the phone much better battery life and most budget smartphone users expect it to run a whole day even when push its capacity with a whole lot of tasks at once. Under the shell, it is expected to be powered by an Exynos 7870 1.5 GHz chipset with ARM Mali T-830 GPU.
The phone will have 2GB of RAM combined with 16GB of storage space. Its rear side will be dominated by a 8 megapixel camera while the front will have a 5 megapixel camera for selfies. Being a next gen phone, it will run on Android 7.0 Nougat operating system out of the box. The new OS is designed to improve performance of the device by offering better notifications, dual app windows and much more. With such limited hardware, it is to be seen how the Samsung Galaxy J7 2017 edition handles Nougat efficiently.
Another Geekbench result suggested that the J7 will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor. It seems the manufacturer will use different processors based on the country where the phone is being sold. In North America, Samsung Galaxy J7 2017 will be sold through AT&T, US Cellular and Verizon locked to the specific service provider.
The J7 2017 edition has already received certification from the Bluetooth SIG team and the FCC. With the Wifi certification, it is nearly confirmed that Samsung is prepping the phone for launch at the MWC 2017 event.
