Samsung Galaxy Note 4 Gets a Substantial Software Update

Even though many Samsung Galaxy Note 4 owners out there are already using the newer Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow OS on their phones, there are still some who have not yet received this update.

For them, it would be a relief to see Samsung avail the Marshmallow update to this 2014 flagship. However, the wait is still on, even though the tech giant has just released a huge update for the same Galaxy Note 4 handset.

Those living in Europe and have a Samsung Galaxy Note 4 handset that carries model number SM-N910F, you should be receiving an update with firmware version XXS1DPJ3 on your phone. The software update comes as an OTA and it weighs slightly below 350MB. As you can see, it is quite huge in size for an update that only brings a number of bug fixes, performance improvements and stability optimizations, among others.

Of course, the Galaxy Note 4 update also brings the latest Android Security Patch for the months of October. In the changelog, the company notes that Note 4 users will receive battery optimizations, stability improvements, bug fixes, efficient memory management as well as improvements in core features of the phone.

We expect this same update to come to all Samsung Galaxy Note 4 handsets across the globe and not just Europe. As usual, this should take some time, but it will be here eventually. If waiting for the OTA notification is a problem for you, it is also recommended to check for the availability of the update manually. This involves going through the Settings app and tap the “About device>Software Update” and while in there, check for the updates’ availability. If it is ready, you should be able to download it right away, otherwise, you will still have to wait for the OTA notification.

Samsung Galaxy Note 4 users are still not sure whether they’ll receive Android 7.0 Nougat, especially when the age-factor is considered. However, given the capabilities of the phone’s hardware, it would be a dream-come-true for this Nougat update to reach all Galaxy Note 4 handsets, but this could take months, a year or probably more.
