Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Rumors – Flagship to be Codenamed Project Baikal

Samsung Galaxy Note 8

Even after what happened with Samsung Galaxy Note 7, the South Korean company is not yet giving up on the Note series.

This year, the company is expected to proceed with unveiling Samsung Galaxy Note 8, but this time around, the tech giant is assuring fans that the phone will be better and safer than what happened with the Galaxy Note 7. Even though we know that the Galaxy Note 8 will be unveiled at some point in the second half of this year, the specific dates are not yet known.

Samsung has delayed the release of the Galaxy S8 and S8+ just so as to ensure that everything is in good shape before pushing the phones into the market. In short, the company is avoiding a repeat of last year’s rushed release of the Galaxy Note 7 that led to the discontinuation of the phablet. Instead of using the same delaying tactics in order to unveil a “better and safer” Samsung Galaxy Note 8, the company seems to be thinking of going into early production.

According to fresh reports just coming in, it appears that Samsung Galaxy Note 8 has already received a codename – BAIKAL. There is no confirmation that this project BAIKAL is indeed representing the Galaxy Note 8, however, the facts that the teaser image shows off an S Pen alongside the hashtag #THENEXTGALAXY are enough to confirm that this is the successor to the Galaxy Note 7.

This is an interesting development from Samsung, but the downside of the story is that there is nothing more the leak gives out with respect to this Galaxy Note 8 flagship. But looking at past reports, the Note 8 should ship with some of the specs and features that will be shipped with the Galaxy S8 and S8+. Still, one would be left wondering what screen size Samsung will adopt for this phablet now that the S8 and S8+ are set to debut with 5.8 and 6.2-inch screen sizes. Only time will tell!
