Samsung Galaxy S5 Exynos Variant Receiving Android Marshmallow Update

Samsugn Galaxy S5 Marshmallow update on T-Mobile

Samsung Galaxy S5 users started receiving Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update sometimes back, but the same is only true for those using the Snapdragon 801 variant.

The Marshmallow update has been rather elusive for many smartphone owners, especially for devices that are a little bit dated. With Samsung known for selling smartphones with different hardware configurations depending on the market, it sometimes becomes hectic for users since the company usually avails updates for these devices at different intervals. This has been the case for Samsung Galaxy S5, which happens to avail the Marshmallow update to certain variants while leaving out others.

Well, for those using the Galaxy S5 variant with an Exynos chipset, the wait is finally over as the company is currently rolling out this OS to the 2014 flagship. This update has been spotted in India and just like the rest, it will probably take some time before finally covering all S5 units based on the Exynos chipset.

Since the update is available as an OTA, not all units will not hit all units at the same time. In fact, it has been available for a few days now and not all users have yet to receive the updated software. If the OTA notification has not yet reached your device, there is room to check for the update manually by going to the Settings>About phone>Software update and you will be notified if the update is ready to download or not. Alternatively, you can have your Exynos-powered Samsung Galaxy S5 updated via your PC courtesy of the Samsung Smart Switch software.

Before proceeding with downloading and installing the update, first of all, ensure that your phone is at least 75% fully charged. If not, plug it in a power source. After the update, Samsung Galaxy S5 will receive features such as Doze, Google Now on Tap, App Standby as well as enhanced apps permissions, among other system-based improvements.
