After Verizon recently started rolling out Android 7.0 Nougat to Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge users, AT&T has once again joined the party as far as the rugged Galaxy S7 Active is concerned.
This is not the first time AT&T is rolling out a Nougat update. The standard Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge on this carrier have already received the treat, but the same had yet to come to Samsung Galaxy S7 Active. Well, if you own this rugged phone, you should receive an OTA notification for downloading the new OS today.
Like the standard S7 and S7 Edge, there’s still no sight of Android 7.1 Nougat, but this is still a huge step towards getting the newer version. According to the changelog provided by AT&T, Samsung Galaxy S7 Active users, after the update, will enjoy enhanced mobile network as well as access to Samsung Pass and Samsung Cloud, something that also happened when Nougat was rolled out to AT&T’s S7 and S7 Edge.
In addition to coming in with two new services from Samsung, AT&T is also ditching one of its own – the Address Book. Like other Android 7.0 Nougat updates rolling out to Samsung devices, this one also brings the latest Android security patch for the month of February. Keep in mind that this is an OTA update and as such not all Samsung Galaxy S7 Active units will be updated to the new OS at once. Instead, the rollout will happen gradually, meaning that some people will get it ahead of others, probably by days.
Since the OTA has just started rolling out today, don’t panic in case the notification doesn’t come your way this very day. It may happen tomorrow or later this week. If you can’t wait, there’s room to check for its availability via the device’s Settings>About device>System updates and while in there, check for updates. If ready, you should be able to manually download and install it, otherwise, keep checking or simply wait for the OTA notification.
