Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 2015 and 2016 editions according to the Wifi certification page are about to be upgraded to the latest Android 7.0 Nougat operating system.
The company completed its beta testing program on all compatible devices in the month of December last year. Ever since they finished it, speculations are rife on the number of models that are about to be upgraded to the new Android OS. The Galaxy Tab S2 with the code name T810 and T815 (the 3G variant) were launched in the year 2015. Being such old devices, there was some doubts earlier if Samsung will choose to bring the operating system to them. The latest Wifi certification confirmed that they are indeed getting the upgrade. There are plenty of devices listed in the page that redirects to the Galaxy Tab S2 in China among other regions.
Based on the info available, it is possible to say that the rollout will take place in phases and will be available on both 3G LTE as well as Wifi variant of the tablet. Under the hood, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 is powered by a Octa Core 1.9GHz and 1.3GHz processor combined with a Mali T760 chipset. These specifications pertain to the 2015 edition of the tablet while the 2016 edition sports slightly better hardware. The update is available for the 2016 edition model as well.
The 9.7-inch tablet has a resolution of 2048×1536 pixels with super AMOLED screen. It has 3GB of RAM with 32GB and 64GB storage choices. The tablet has a 8 megapixel rear camera and a 2.1 megapixel front camera with support for Wifi AC, the latest and fastest connectivity option. The device is also equipped with a fingerprint sensor and has a large 5870 mAh battery. The original device launched with Android 5.0 processor which was later upgraded to Android Marshmallow 6.0 and now to Nougat 7.0 operating system.
The models listed in the Wifi website are T810 Wifi version, T815 with 3G LTE along with other model numbers pertaining to specific countries. The 2016 edition of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 T813N and the T819N are also listed in the page to receive the Nougat 7.0 update.
