The Sims series has built a huge fan base since the release of its first installment on February 4, 2000.
The life simulation video game franchise has four titles to its name so far and it’s one of the best-selling series of all time. In spite of what the series has achieved the past, there is a big problem with the development of the fifth title, The Sims 5.
Naturally, at this time, the expectant fans would have been getting rumors of what The Sims 5 would look like. But that’s not happening yet meaning the game’s release may be delayed or maybe the series may end at The Sims 4. Several speculations have emerged to justify the situation, but the most reliable and perhaps the chief reason behind the developers’ reluctance in producing the game is the performance of the previous title and the latest installment.
The Sims 4 flopped in the market with several bugs which accompanied it cited as the biggest reason behind the failure. Besides, the game did not bring along many feature updates as expected by the gamers. According to reports from the game’s developers, The Sims 4 has not met the predicted sales, therefore, they are still giving it more time. To speed things up and to garner more income for the company, the developers have released a new DLC going by the name “City Living” whose market performance will be the ultimate determinant of whether we will see The Sims 5 or the series will end its production at the fourth installment.
New DLC (City Living) released
We’ve just mentioned ‘City Living’ DLC, but what exactly does it entail. Well, the Expansion Pack adds a host new features more notably the addition of event festivals. The update shifts the setting from the suburbs to a city. In the new changelog, food stalls have been added during event festivals. Unfortunately, gamers have complained of bugs in the new inclusion. According to player feedback, the gamers have mentioned that the Sims would not stop eating from the stalls even after consuming enough food.
It has been noted that once the Sims are done with eating the food ordered from the stalls, they will automatically go ahead to make another order. That’s not the only concern, though, players are also worried of their Sims gaining extra weight in the process. With that, they will be obliged to the force them to shake off the extra kilos through exercises.
The Sims 5 release date
Back to The Sims 5 release date and the rumors that have been surfacing the web. It’s now beyond a shadow of a doubt that the development team will not commence any building process for the game until the new DLC meets the projected expectations. Unfortunately, the team is already receiving negative feedback in the bugs associated with the new Pack. With glitches being reported at the early stages, players might not be willing to spend money just to add a bug-filled DLC to Sims 4 which they are already not even enjoying.
With low purchases, the game will not earn much profit as required and that could mean the end of the Sims games. As a matter of fact, the game’s producer Grant Rodiek said that the team is not working on another Sims title, in fact, they are not thinking about it at the moment. So sad for The Sims diehards. Love it, hate it that’s the reality and we have to live by it.
However, there is still hope that the developers (Maxis) and the producer (Electronic Arts) will change their minds and we could see The Sims 5 sooner.
