Sony recently launched the firmware update 4.74 to bring a lot of new features, fix bugs and make the user interface more intuitive than ever.
But, it lacked a bunch of important things and caused compatibility issues that has pushed the developers to launch firmware 5.0 beta as a quick, smaller update.
For users who were running and testing 5.0 beta firmware, the newly released 4.74 caused instability issues. Sony wants users to know that there are a couple of limitations when they are in the beta channel and may not get the wholesome experience as other gamers. If they don’t wish to face such problems, they can always come out of the beta channel and wait for the full release of the firmware.
A notice was sent to beta trial testers earlier which suggested that Playstation 4 has officially received the software update version 4.74. However, when players are in the 5.00 beta channel they will be prompted to update (downgrade) to the 4.74 which is the latest stable version according to the Playstation console. Such prompts can be found only in specific games that are not designed to offer the best performance on a beta firmware.
However, if a player decides to come out of the beta they will no longer be able to revert back to the 5.00 version. It was a fair warning and it will also fully reset the content that is displayed on your home screen. When the firmware is downgraded and installed, all the previous downloads in the history as well as download links related to SHAREfactory will be deleted. You will no longer be able to see them.
Some of the items that were kept in notification will be removed. Any activities that were customized and designed for the 5.00 firmware beta channel will be removed. Only those that are related and compatible with 4.74 will work as intended. Some of the games which were downloaded and installed on the 5.00 will not run properly due to software compatibility issues.
All the above said issues and more are finally fixed, thanks to the newest PS4 firmware update for 5.0 that should allow players to be on the beta channel without so much of a fuss. They can continue exploring the features until it is officially released for the general public in the following weeks. If you are on 5.0 beta, make sure to download this small update.
