Android Nougat on Google Nexus

Google has announced releasing its final version of Nougat, Android 7.0, and if you want to taste the goodness of the new OS, get the latest Nexus 6P.

Android N Available

The latest OS version of Google, Android Nougat, is officially available from today for compatible Nexus devices. Apart from Nexus devices, the LG V20 will probably be the first device launching with Android N out of the box. There are many other devices that will get the new updated software version over the coming months. Android N offers improved platform efficiency and offers additional information to the user.

Unveiling of Android N

The new OS version of Android, Android 7.0 Nougat was revealed at the I/O a few months before in May 2016. The name ‘Nougat’ was then revealed the next month in June. Google released the public beta versions of Android N for the Nexus devices and now the full release of the new OS version is available for the selected Google Nexus devices.

What to Expect

It is expected that along with the new software being seen on the new Nexus devices, it will also be launched by LG’s V20 on the 6th of September this year.

Here are some of the new features that you can expect to see on the Nexus 6P with the Android N update.

  1. Refined Setting Buttons

The new Android N brings in better functionality to core platform features. Users can swipe down and toggle to the flight mode or turn the flashlight on and even enable a Wi Fi hotspot with quick actions.

  1. Clear All Feature

All running apps are managed efficiently, but now users can also shut down applications quickly. The clear all feature is seen on the upper right corner of task switcher and can be used for doing this and running the phone smoothly.

  1. Support for Multi Windows

Owners of the Pixel C tab will be able to appreciate this feature, as it is a large tablet. However, the feature is also very useful on devices like the Nexus 6P, as it has a large screen. Samsung offers users the choice of using two applications simultaneously on its display screen, but it is nice to see that Google has included the support with the Android N. It is also possible to see two tabs in Chrome simultaneously, merely by selecting a move to the next window when browsing. Users can also drag or drop a text or an image from one window to another, as has been seen in Samsung devices.

  1. Reply Directly through Notifications

Even previously, Android manufacturers had offered this feature and this is the reason many users preferred non-Nexus phones earlier. With this feature now available with Android N, it is easy to stay in one application and reply to a person in another app without having to leave the active app.

  1. Update to Settings

The settings show additional information, namely usage of data, status, amount of battery remaining, and so on.
