Upcoming Sony Xperia Android 7.1.1 Nougat Update to add Night Light feature

Sony Xperia X Concept

Sony Xperia X Performance and XZ were the first Sony phones to be updated to Android 7.0 Nougat, but the company did not stop there.

Right after rolling out the update, the Japanese tech giant proceeded with tests for the next update, which is Android 7.1.1 Nougat. According to the latest reports, the Xperia X Concept has now been updated with a new feature known as Night Light.

This feature comes to the display settings of the phone and with it, users of Sony Xperia X phones will have an easier time when it comes to reading stuff on their phones during the night. It is the same feature that Apple calls Night Shift.

Those who are part of Sony’s Experimental program can get this Night Light feature on software build version 38.3.A.0.66. Once installed, they will be able to filter out blue light that is emitted from the display screen so that they don’t end up with insomnia. Like with any other cases, Sony Xperia X users will be able to turn this Night Light feature on and off as they wish, be it manually or automatically.

In addition to giving you the Night Light feature, the latest addition to the Sony Xperia X Concept brings a new Home launcher as well as enhancements in network handling. Furthermore, those who were experiencing some issues with noise cancellation and fingerprint tests should also be relieved by this update. Like expected, the new Xperia X Concept update also brings the latest Android Security Patch for the month of January.

Even though it’s been a while since Sony added Android 7.1.1 Nougat to this Experimental track, we still don’t know when the OTA update will start rolling out. However, the company seems to be moving swiftly with just about everything, meaning it may not be long before Sony Xperia X users start seeing the newer version of Nougat.

As for now, this update is only meant for those taking part in the Xperia X Concept program and it weighs 47.4MB.
