Verizon keeps its schedule of releasing software updates to the dozens of models it sells to its customers.
In this batch of rollout, Verizon’s software updates cover Google’s Pixel phones apart from a couple of devices from the Motorola and LG stables. All the eight devices featured in this report receive their latest March 2019 updates in the form of the latest Android security patches from Verizon. The device-wise details are listed below:
Google Pixel 3 XL
This premium offering from Google is the last release by the company, launched last year. With a 6.3 inch P-OLED display and 4 GB RAM and 64 GB/128 GB storage, the phone runs on the Android Pie OS. This update is bringing the latest security update to the device.
Google Pixel 2 XL
The Google Pixel 2 XL is the predecessor to the 3 XL released the previous year, 2017 and understandably, is receiving the 17th update. 6 inch is the size of the display this phone comes with and the RAM and storage are the same 4 GB and 64 GB/128 GB as the Pixel 3 XL. The phone was launched with the Android Oreo, but has been updated to the Android Pie now.
Google Pixel 3
This is the standard variant of the premium Google Pixel 3 XL. While the RAM and storage are same, the display is smaller at 5.5 inches. The 5th update now sent as OTA by Verizon has the latest March security update patch from Android.
Google Pixel XL
This 2016 release from Google is up for its 30th software update from Verizon which is mainly the latest Android security patch. The phone has a 5.5 inch display and 4 GB RAM. The internal storage comes in 2 variants, 32 GB and 128 GB. This phone has also been upgraded to the Android Pie, version 9.0.
Google Pixel 2
Google Pixel 2 sports a 5 inch display and the familiar 4 GB RAM and 64 GB/128 GB combination. The software has been upgraded to the Android Pie. The 17th software update now being sent by Verizon comprises of the latest Android security patch.
Google Pixel
The lower version of the two models released in 2016, the Google Pixel has a 5 inch display and the RAM is 4 GB. The storage has two variants, 32 GB and 128 GB. The operating system has been upgraded to the latest Android Pie, version 9.0. This software update has only the latest Android security update patch.
Motorola Moto G6
One of the smartphones to be released by Motorola in 2018, this device has a 5.7 inches. The RAM/ROM combinations are 3 GB/32 GB and 4 GB/64 GB. This phone has received an upgrade to the Android Pie in regions like India and Brazil but it’s yet to get updated in the US. The latest Android security update patch is the main intention behind Verizon sending this software update OTA.
LG Zone 4
The LG Zone 4 is a budget segment smartphone with 5 inches display, 2 GB RAM and 16 GB internal storage. The phone was released last year with the Android Nougat and still runs on the same OS with version 7.1.2. The security update this time is for installing the latest Android security patch.
