Verizon sent out the latest software updates to a bunch of smartphone models sold under its umbrella.
These covered three Samsung devices namely Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge, Galaxy J3 and J3 Verizon, Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus. A majority of these devices are getting their Android security update patches of June. Some of the devices have been given a OS version upgrade to Android Pie and some have received the latest security patches for the month of July.
Samsung Galaxy S7 / Galaxy S7 Edge
These are devices released by Samsung in the first quarter of 2016 and Verizon is giving them the 30th software update. The main content in this update for both the Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge consists of the latest Android security patch for the month of June 2019.
Samsung Galaxy J3 / J3 V (3rd Generation)
These 2018 devices from Samsung are receiving their 6th software update through Verizon. This is an important update since the Samsung Galaxy J3 and J3 V are getting upgraded to the Android Pie OS version 9.0 accompanied the corresponding user interface One UI from Samsung. Verizon has mentioned that the update will give the device a completely new look and feel. The night mode and the intuitive camera interface are some of the highlights apart from a host of new features the OS brings in order to make your user experience second to none. In addition, the two devices also receive the latest Android security patches for the month of June 2019.
Samsung Galaxy S8 / S8 Plus
This 2-year old Samsung flagship is receiving its software update No. 26 from Verizon. The current update for the Samsung Galaxy S8 includes some performance improvements as well as the latest Android security patch for the month of July 2019. Unlike the updates dated June 1 for the models discussed above, the Samsung Galaxy S8 gets the Android security patch dated July 1.
Like the Galaxy S8, the Galaxy S8 Plus too receives the latest July security patch updates from Android via the carrier, Verizon. Verizon has mentioned that there are some performance improvements included in this software update as well.
