Samsung Galaxy S7 users began receiving the update to Android 7.0 Nougat on January 12th, however, this update was only directed to those who took part in the beta testing program.
As for those who were not part of the new Galaxy Beta Program, Samsung began the official of the OS yesterday, January 17, just like previous rumors had pointed out. With this update, Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge users will now be able to enjoy the many features that Android 7.0 Nougat comes with, however, there is also one unique offering that was introduced with the dead Samsung Galaxy Note 7 and it is now making its way to the S7 handsets via this update.
When Samsung Galaxy Note 7 launched, it came with a new power saving mode that allowed users to switch the display resolution of the phone in a bid to save more battery power. Here, users could easily switch from a QHD resolution to a Full HD resolution whenever they felt like. Well, the new Android 7.0 Nougat update for Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge brings along this feature to the flagships, something that should be a welcome idea for many.
One little problem, though, is that when you update your Samsung Galaxy S7 or S7 Edge to the latest Android 7.0 Nougat, the phone may automatically switch the display resolution to Full HD. Even though this will give you a longer battery life, you may not get the best out of the QHD display units that come with the two phones. But there is nothing to worry about as getting back to the full-blown QHD resolution is just a few taps away. To take the display resolution back to QHD, go to the phone’s Settings>Display menu and make the changes, but you must restart your phone in order for them to be effected.
There are probably many out there who have already upgraded their Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge units to Android 7.0 Nougat and haven’t any change in display quality. This is expected, especially since the two – QHD and Full HD – are hard to separate when using naked eyes. But why should you stick to a lower display resolution when the device has more to offer?
