Hardcore fighting games are best experienced on a platform that would allow you to tap buttons as quickly as possible while seeing them reflect on screen.
Tekken 7 is the latest installment in the series which is available on PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
While PC gamers hardly compete in this race because they have a whole lot of input solutions to go with right from gaming peripherals like a fighting stick to Xbox One, PS4 controllers, third party controllers and even the keyboard combo which Tekken 7 supports. However, for PS4 and Xbox One console gamers, they are supposed to rely on their own controller to respond on screen with no lag or at least minimum lag.
Tekken 7 is not just any game but is on par with titles like Street Fighter V and Mortal Kombat X which are all part of international fighting tournaments. Even the slightest lag could cause a lot of cause as it determines the outcome of the title. A recent test conducted by a team of professionals headed by Nigel Woodall confirmed that the game lags pretty high on the Playstation 4 console. The difference between the time when you press a button and the character’s reaction to it within the game on the PS4 is pegged at 120.5ms while the Xbox One is relatively lower as it is marked at 104.2ms.
Microsoft’s console can possibly claim victory in this record because even though the numbers sound minimal for the average human eye, the framerates and the overall output of the game varies. The PS4 needs 7.2 frames to display the actions while the Xbox One console can do the same with just 6.3 frames making it much faster, easier to watch while engaged in intense fight tournaments. It would even vary the experience for the average gamer who definitely doesn’t demand too much but would love if lag is very low to enjoy the game.
The guy who tested the changes and the lag found in these consoles had also posted a Youtube video. If you can check it out, he compares the game by running it on both consoles showing how it varies and the ways it would affect the gameplay. Sometimes, the end result looks the same on the PS4, Xbox One for Tekken 7 while it shows distinct differences at other occasions. If the resolution is reduced, the Playstation 4 displayed lower lag. Check out the video for yourself.
