Xiaomi 12, Xiaomi 12 Pro get approval from EEC, hinting at an imminent launch.
Xiaomi 12 series, the company’s next flagship set of smartphones is expected to debut by the end of this year. Ahead of the official announcement, the devices have already passed through India’s BIS certification, hinting that they will also make their way to India. Now, we have spotted the global variants of Xiaomi 12 and 12 Pro on the EEC certification. Getting the certification hints that the devices are close to the launch.
The vanilla Xiaomi 12 reportedly carries model number 2201122G, and the Xiaomi 12 Pro bears model number 2201123G. As always, the EEC certification website does not reveal anything more about the phone. According to recent leaks, Xiaomi 12 will be the world’s first phone to launch with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 898 SoC, which is said to be announced next month during the Qualcomm Snapdragon Tech Summit 2021.
This time, Motorola will also be one of the very first smartphone brands to launch a Snapdragon 898 SoC-powered phone, as tipped by Digital Chat Station. He claims that the device will launch at the end of this year. Probably, few days after the Xiaomi 12 release.
While Qualcomm is yet to divulge any details about the upcoming flagship chip, a leaked image detailing the chipset specs was spotted on the internet. The Snapdragon 898 SoC is reportedly code-named SM8450. It has one core clocked at 3.0 GHz, which should be the Cortex-X2 prime core. The octa-core setup also includes three Cortex-A710 cores clocked at 2.5 GHz and four power-efficient Cortex-A510 cores clocked at 1.79 GHz. All the graphics-related tasks are handled by the Adreno 730 GPU.
According to recent reports, standard Xiaomi 12 will launch next month, while the Xiaomi 12 Pro, Xiaomi 12 Ultra will be released early next month. The company will reportedly start mass-producing Xiaomi 12 this month, and the other two will be later on the production line.
