ZTE Axon 7 Mini is scheduled to get a software update today, at 2 AM EST, with enhancements like VoLTE support, camera improvements, Android security patches and so on.

User devices could be of three different builds, the B12, the B14 MR2 or the B16. This new update will bring all builds up to date with the same MR, the B21, as it is the most current one available.

However, there are some differences between the three firmware releases. The B12 B21 build will receive support for VoLTE, which is T Mobile HD Voice calls. This can be enabled through Settings and All Settings and then by going to More and VoLTE Voicecall.

The update will also come with Google Android security patches for December 2016. They will also get the latest APN matching the major North American carriers along with updated applications and camera enhancements. The focus speed has been improved along with the night mode.  Google applications will also be updated with this firmware update. There will also be some other general improvements for this build.

B14MR2 B21 and B16 21

These two releases have already received the updates mentioned above through carriers, except for the Android security patches from Google. They will also receive the upcoming APN along with other general improvements.

Installing the Firmware

Before attempting to install the updated firmware, it is recommended by ZTE that users must charge their phones to above 30%. This should be done in order to avoid failure in updating caused due to low battery.

The news of the update is a good one for those who own an Axon 7 Mini device. All users must keep their smartphone charged at above 30% in order to install the new update. The new builds will begin to go live from January 12th at 2 am EST.
