There is a new software update currently rolling out to ZTE Zmax Pro users and it brings the latest Android 7.0 Nougat update to this phablet.
While this will definitely be coming in as good news for those who own the Zmax Pro, many will be disappointed to learn that the update is currently a beta version of Android Nougat. In short, the company has just opened up the program for the phone, allowing a few people to install and test the unstable version of the OS on their phones before a stable version comes out later.
Launched in 2016, the ZTE Zmax Pro came preinstalled with Android Marshmallow out of the box. With ZTE mostly known for its preference for updating devices as a whole rather than the software aspect only, it will be a dream come true for owners of this phone to receive Android Nougat OTA.
If you choose to enter this program, your role will mostly be around reporting any bugs detected in the software so as when the full rollout begins there is no issue that hasn’t been addressed. However, as it is, this beta program is only opening for those who live in the U.S.
As noted earlier, the ZTE Zmax Pro was released in 2016 and as the name suggests, it has a huge 6.0-inch LCD display screen with a Full HD 1080p resolution. The screen is protected by Corning’s Gorilla Glass 3 and has a pixel density of 367ppi, which is pretty impressive for such a phablet. Under the hood, the Zmax Pro packs a Snapdragon 617 SoC, Adreno 405 and 2GB RAM. The phone ships with 32GB of expandable storage.
The back plate has a 13MP snapper with PDAF, f/2.2 aperture and LED flash while the front has a 5MP snapper. To keep it alive, the ZTE Zmax Pro ships with a capable 3400mAh battery unit that is charged via a USB-C cable. The phone also comes with a fingerprint scanner on the back and support for LTE connectivity.
Remember, the ZTE Zmax Pro Nougat beta update is only available for those in the U.S.
