The automobile manufacturer teased audience for a very long time and has finally revealed the 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon muscle car that is bound to break performance records at every corner.
The newly launched powerful beast boasts of an insanely high 808 horsepower with 717 lb feet of torque to keep it street legal. If you are going to go for the model that’s designed only for the tracks, the car can go upto 840 horsepower coupled with 770 lb feet of torque. The track edition has already certified the production version of the car. It managed to create a wheelie feet that pushed the front wheels up by 2.92 feet and other manufacturers have to put in so much power so as to beat the records set by the new Dodge.
The brand has confirmed that the street legal version of the Demon will be launched in stores before the end of 2017. In terms of performance, the car sets a new benchmark and according to the company’s official report it has already managed to beat the records set by the Tesla Model S with its ludicrous mode. While the Model S can go from 0 to 62 miles per hour in just 2.28 seconds which is easily a world record, the Demon can do the same in just 2.1 seconds.
A big question mark at this point is that Tesla achieved the feat in asphalt tracks whereas Dodge did the same on a racing trip. The performance and tire grip on race tracks are usually much higher when compared to the average road conditions. Designed to be one of the biggest and fastest cars, the 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon will be produced in limited numbers. The brand has confirmed that they will create just 3,300 such models out of which 3000 will be sold in the United States while 300 will be reserved for Canada.
The car is powered by a 2.7-liter supercharger engine and has been upgraded with a whole lot of components to achieve the horsepower it delivers. However, Dodge didn’t discuss the pricing and the availability of the model. The fast speed is geared towards car enthusiasts and may not be an appealing choice for the average buyer. Besides, it is going to be an obviously expensive model that will be owned by specific buyers across the United States. Once the model is released, there should be some strong comparisons with the Tesla Model S to find the fastest car of them all.
