The Frankfurt Motor Show is very close before which automobile manufacturers are eager to showcase their newer models exclusively.
The BMW i3s and the i3 EVs are the ones that were revealed by the company much earlier along with a couple of pictures and technical specification.
Going by the trend BMW has been following for a long time now, the automobile brand will make these reveals so as to keep the public interested in their cars while some exclusive and interesting announcements will be reserved for the Frankfurt show. The newly revealed, most potent BMW i3s can easily go from 0 to 62 miles per hour in just 7 seconds.
The standard electric motor found in the i3 can produce up to 168 horsepower which has now been tweaked in the i3s so that it would offer 181 horsepower and an additional 20Nm of torque. The pure electric model is said to go from 0 to 62 mph in just 6.9 seconds. All these figures are being discussed on paper and the real world performance of the car is something we have to witness after the official launch takes place. The range extender model in the i3 which is much heavier in terms of design and weight can sprint to the 62 mph speed in about 7.7 seconds.
A whole lot of changes are incorporated in the i3s including new springs, dampers and anti-roll bars while the overall ride height has been lowered by 10mm compared to the base i3 model. Providing the best and safest driving experience in all road conditions is what BMW is aiming at. The company plans to achieve it by introducing the DSC stability control system which is paired with the Dynamic Traction Control DTC to allow safe drifts in cornering. It makes drifting a possible option for the average driver who isn’t an expert at corners but like to enjoy a controlled experience.
Apart from these changes on the inside, the BMW i3s features revised front bumper, LED headlights and all of them are mounted on the C-shaped trim. The car is now available in two different color variants, the metallic Melbourne Red and Imperial Blue. The car is equipped with 20-inch alloy wheels which look quite stylish as they use bi-colors and features black wheelarch extensions. The infotainment system in the car includes a 10.25-inch display, supports voice commands, Apple CarPlay and works with BMW i ConnectedDrive apps to keep the driver in the loop en route.
