Call of Duty fans, since the last couple of years, have been dependent on the Battle.net app by Activision Blizzard to buy the games that are a part of the popular franchise.
Right from Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, each and every Call of Duty game and service have been released as PC exclusives. This was done in order to avoid paying the fees levied by Steam and other popular platforms. However, this is something that could change soon. There is a chance of Call of Duty returning to Steam with the arrival of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.
Though some of the newer Call of Duty games didn’t get a PC release, many of the older games are accessible for PC users. Recently, Call of Duty fans went through the profile of the franchise on Steam. Towards the bottom of this profile, users noticed the presence of a graphic that left them surprised. It was a link to the portal of Call of Duty franchise on Steam. However, the more interesting element in the image was a piece of art that seemed to belong to the world of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. It was a concept art designed by Simon “Ghost” Riley.

As soon as it was discovered, the art was shared extensively on multiple online communities of Call of Duty. Interestingly, this particular piece of art was removed after a while and replaced with a bright but blank blue-colored graphic. Since there has been no official comment on this matter, one is fully sure about the meaning behind this symbolic gesture.
While some fans have stated that it points out towards a forthcoming released by Steam for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, a bunch of gamers are of the opinion that the artwork was uploaded by mistake.
There are a couple of reasons why Call of Duty fans shouldn’t get too excited about this news and wait for more updates to come out. It would not be wise to treat this piece of evidence as something that’s substantial as there is a lot of ambiguity around it. Of course, a graphic containing an artwork from the game is important news. However, at the moment, there has been no confirmation on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 getting a release on Steam.
