Sea Of Thieves did not have the kind of launch that Microsoft or Rare was expecting it to.
However, with time, the game improved and managed to build a good fan base for itself. What helped the cause was the fact that Rare provided updates on a regular basis to fix the issues.
Apart from that, it also added content at short intervals. While the open sea pirate game was dependent on in-game micro-transactions and free updates to sustain itself for a very long time, it started growing at a good pace after it was released on PC and hosted a Pirates of the Caribbean themed crossover event in the summer of 2021.

The numerous efforts made by the developing team have resulted in Sea Of Thieves increasing its user base rapidly in the last few years. The addition of PvE style content such as the Pirate’s Life content headlined by Jack Sparrow. Last year, the game adapted a unique seasonal model wherein players were provided with both challenges and rewards. Players were also offered a paid plunder pass that enables them to earn additional rewards. After taking several steps to improve the gameplay experience for the players, Rare has decided on a date for the release of Sea of Thieves Season 6.
The new Sea of Thieves trailer offers players a glimpse of Season Six which is all set to get an official release on March 10. The sixth season of the game aims to provide a bunch of new content to engage themselves with. Players will get to experience ‘on demand’ encounters with the arrival of six new Sea Forts.
Once players get inside the fort, they will get to flex their muscles and put their combatting skills to some good use by fighting with phantom soldiers in possession of a special treasury key. This particular key shall lead you to a room comprising of skulls, chests and a lot of other interesting items.
A Pirate Legend Voyage, which is scheduled to release in some time, is a part of the new update. The mission packs in a variety of things including a set of challenges that are expected to enhance the replay value of the game. It will also contribute towards offering context to the many characters and lores in the game.

This particular season also arrives with a brand new pass offering 100 tiers of stolen items that can be acquired for free by playing the game and earning renown. The trailer of Sea of Thieves also shared a glimpse of new rewards, weapon skins and cosmetic items. If a player is willing to part with some of their real coins, they can get the new Plunder Pass that features 14 Pirate Emporium goods like ancient coins and the Forest’s Blessing Costume.
Since Season Six has been designed keeping the expectations of fans in consideration, Rare has given an inkling of 2022 turning out to be the most eventful year for Sea of Thieves so far.
